On the afternoon of January 3, “Management Discipline Construction and Talent Training in the New Era” High-Level Forum was held at Room 402 in MBA Education Center. The forum was jointly organized by School of Business and School of Accounting. A number of leaders from universities in Guangdong attended the forum and discussed about the hot topic of the management discipline construction and talent training in the new era. The attendees included: Jiao Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS; Yuan Quan, Dean of Graduate School; Chen Yanhui, Director of Academic Research Division; Li Qing, Secretary of Guangdong Research Institute for International Studies; Liu Zhonghua, Dean of School of Accounting; Zhu Wenzhong, Dean of School of Business and deans from school of business or management of Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, South China Normal University, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Finance & Economics, Guangdong University of Technology.
Before the forum, Jiao Fangtai met with the delegates and addressed the opening ceremony. On behalf of the GDUFS, he delivered warm welcome to the deans and experts present at the forum and expressed gratitude to the deans and experts for their visit to GDUFS and suggesting on the construction of management discipline and talent training. He introduced the basic information about GDUFS and the discipline construction and talent training of School of Business and School of Accounting. He pointed out that GDUFS is going to construct itself into a high-level university with distinctive international characteristics. Along with the "Belt and Road" initiative, we must uphold the tradition of GDUFS and characteristics to develop the management discipline and accounting discipline. He hoped that through this forum, all schools would be open to communicate and learn from each other, and work together to cultivate more high-level business talents that meet the needs of the new era for Guangdong and the country.
The forum was divided into two sessions. The first session is the keynote speech of the 9 deans of GDUFS and other universities. The second session is free talk. The topic of Dean Zhu Wenzhong's keynote speech is “The Reform of Discipline Construction and Talent Training Mode of GDUFS School of Business”. He introduced School of Business from five aspects: the basic situation, the training structure of the discipline talents, the approach of talent training, the existing problems and the ideas for future improvement. Deans closely followed the theme of the forum “Management Discipline Construction and Talent Training in the New Era”, and expressed their views from different perspectives, combining the actual conditions of each school.
Through an afternoon of discussion, the friendship among peers has been enhanced and deans from different universities shared their own experiences and achieved important consensus. Such high-level forums will be conducted from time to time on a regular basis, and will be organized in turn by business schools and management colleges of various universities to build a long-term exchange mechanism for discussion. Such a high-level forum can not only promote the management discipline and talent cultivation of the university, but also benefit the construction and development of business schools and management colleges in Guangdong.
