About the MBA Programs

1. Mission and Vision of the Programs

The mission of MBA programs is to “To foster a new generation of global managers strong in cross-cultural communication”, which means, it is devoted to cultivating internationalized management talents who have international vision; are well-versed in international norms, familiar with the local environment, and good at solving local problems; and have strong cross-cultural communication capacity, can directly participate in international cooperation and competition and have strong sense of social responsibilities.


The vision of the MBA programs is to “To develop into a first-class internationalized MBA programme in China”, which means, because of their international vision and familiarity with international norms, after the tempering of the job markets, the graduates from the MBA Education Center of BS will surely become a new generation of business elites capable of adapting to multinational operation and the Center will demonstrate a bright prospect of producing large numbers of excellent talents. This vision is in line with that of GDUFS and BS, highlighting the high-quality internationalization feature of GDUFS. The MBA programs adhere to the SMILE values of BS and strive hard to develop students’ professional integrity and moral standards.


2. Development Strategy of MBA Programs

2.1 Overall Thought of MBA Development

Within 3-5 years, BS will build a complete education system of business administration including MBA programs, EDPs and joint DBAs with first-class international business schools: with MBA programs as the basis to foster the school running features and brand; DBAs as breakthrough points to upgrade the BS school-running level and promote the development of commercial discipline; and EDPs as the bridge to extensively tap corporate resources, thus providing talent cultivation and project consulting services to large numbers of enterprises.

2.2 Overall Strategic Goal of MBA Development

In the coming 5 years, under the leadership and guidance of AMBA, it will comprehensively upgrade the quality of its MBA programs to forge the international brand of GDUFS’ MBA.

2.3 Specific Development Strategy of MBA Programs

2.3.1. Upgrading of cross-boundary cooperation. The number of excellent foreign cooperative universities and colleges will increase to 30; no less than 25% of the students will participate in international exchange programs during their study at BS; it will attach importance to cooperation with MBA programs of the emerging economies and sponsor the annual meeting and forum of the Association of BRICS Business Schools (ABBS) to make ABBS an important cooperation platform for business schools of BRICS.


2.3.2. Diversified teachers. By innovating talent recruitment and cultivation mechanism, BS will recruit 5-8 excellent global teachers to undertake the MBA teaching and research; and, by relying on the university platforms, assign 3-5 teachers for academic visits or further study abroad. It will invite overseas experts to host “New Vision Lectures” or various forms of “workshops”, at least 6 times each year. By relying on GDUFS’s “Shadow Project” of management internationalization, BS will assign 3-4 administrative personnel to hold short-term posts in foreign universities and try to recruit 1-2 foreign administrative personnel.


2.3.3. Globalization of scientific research.BS will focus on international corporate management and corporate internationalization, trying to obtain 3-5 research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level and publish 10-15 papers in core journals. It will develop local cases and try to have 5-6 cases included in Chinese Management Case Library and 2-3 cases included in Harvard/Ivey Business School case libraries.


2.3.4. Improvement of curriculum system.It will keep perfecting the All English- Taught MBA curriculum system, establish bilingual MBA curriculum systems, and enhance course characteristics of internationalization while at the same time enhance the construction of localized curriculum system to forge a characteristic modular curriculum system.


2.3.5. Upgrading of students’ career. BS will establish stable cooperative relationship with 3-5 renowned enterprises so that a win-win situation can be formed in which the enterprises offer students opportunities for practice and research while the latter offer the former decision-making consulting service. Senior executives of renowned enterprises will be invited to host the “MBA Forum”. By 2015, it will establish at least 5 professional clubs such entrepreneurial club, marketing club, financial and money management club or similar student organizations.


2.3.6. Expansion of corporate resources.It will strengthen integration and development of corporate relations, foster EDP modules with distinctive features of internationalization, develop and research characteristic modules such as multinational corporate management and cross-cultural management, transformation and upgrading of export-oriented enterprises and international business management and implement 3-5 new EDPs each year. By 2015, it will establish close corporate partnership with 30 enterprises, providing multidimensional support to the teaching, research, enrollment and employment of the programs.


2.3.7. Forging of international brand.Abiding by the international quality standards, and through further readjustment and upgrading, BS will strive to pass the AMBA International Accreditation so as to increase its influence and forge its international brand. Besides, it will implement the “Four Five’s” Brand Project, namely, recruiting or training 5 brand teachers; building 5 university-level brand courses, hosting 5 brand activities and cultivating 5 brand excellent students.
