Oct 12, 2024

On October 11, 2024, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) held a meeting with its innovation and entrepreneurship team at the Baiyun Mountain Campus, combined with a mobilization meeting for the upcoming national finals of the 2024 China College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Professor SHI Youqi, Chairperson of GDUFS, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech.

Professor SHI emphasized that GDUFS has attached great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education. He noted that student teams, through active practice, have consistently combined theory with practice, bridged the gap between GDUFS and society, and integrated knowledge across disciplines. This not only showcases the positive spirit of GDUFS students, but also reflects GDUFS’s commitment to cultivating high-caliber versatile talents with a global vision, while aligning with the evolving needs of society. At the meeting, ZHU Yufeng, leader of the “Yao Basket” project team representing GDUFS in the finals, shared insights on their project. He explained that “Yao Lan” integrates the “red tourism” initiative with the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, resonates with national strategies such as poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, and leverages the digital economy and digital technologies. It aims to foster rural development, promote the inheritance of Yao embroidery, increase the income of embroiderers, and ensure that the achievements of student innovation and entrepreneurship are effectively translated into tangible results on the ground. As one of the outstanding teams selected from over 5 million projects nationwide, the “Yao Lan” team is determined to face challenges with courage and creativity, carrying the encouragement and support of GDUFS’s leadership team, faculty, and fellow students as they set out for the finals.
