On October 9, 2024, the 20th Delegation of Young Officials from Central and State Agencies for Research and Practice visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) and held a symposium at the MBA Building of School of Business (SoB). The symposium, themed “Cultivating Young Talents in Economic Sciences”, was organized by the Third Division of the Department of Management Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Participants included YAN Xiangbin, Deputy Chairperson and President of GDUFS, WU Gang, Director of the Third Division of the NSFC Department of Management Science, delegation members including Director CHEN Zhongfei, Director BAI Yang, and faculty member GU Yuchen, as well as more than 40 young faculty representatives from GDUFS, representing the Office of Research Affairs, School of Business (SoB), the School of Finance, the School of Economics and Trade, the School of Accounting, and the Institute of Studies for the Greater Bay Area (Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau). The symposium was chaired by Professor HAN Xiaohua, Associate Dean of SoB. Discussions focused on issues such as project selection and research foundations, the peer-review mechanism, project extensions, fairness of competition among different types of universities, research data sharing, application requirements and funding rates, as well as application strategies and application code selection. NSFC representatives addressed these topics with detailed and thoughtful responses.
