On the May 22nd, the two-day Case Writing Workshop Phase Two opened. The main guest lecturers are Professor Lv Yuan from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Professor Lin Quan from the Shantou University. A number of leaders and teachers from graduate school of business in South China attended this workshop.
Professor Lin first delivered a keynote speech entitled “How to compile teaching case for MBA courses-with development process of Jiapei Company as a case”. He incorporated four core frameworks, namely, definition of case teaching, its component and features, skills in compiling cases and frequently asked questions, into his speech. With Jiapei as the case, he presented a detailed compilation solution, providing exemplary model.
On the next day, Professor Lv Yuan delivered a keynote speech entitled “Case teaching method in corporate strategic management courses”. He carried out an in-depth analysis on the definition, mode, selection method, capability requirements and do’s and don’ts of case teaching. He also discussed with attendees via cases of two multinational corporations, Philips and Panasonic.
All the attended teachers expressed that despite the brevity of the workshop, the two professors had provided precious experience of MBA case teaching. It is hoped that similar activities can be held more often to share resources among business schools in South China.
