On the morning on January 4, 2017, the Business School Accreditation Salon co-hosted by MBA Education Center, School of Business and the News of Business Schools Magazine was convened in Conference Room 402 of the MBA Education Centerat the North Campus. Over 20 deans and delegates from 9 business schools around the country attended the salon. The salon was co-chaired by Meng Ge, Chief Editor of the News of Business Schools Magazine and Wang Gang, Director of MBA Education Center.
At the beginning of themeeting, Dean Zhu Wenzhong extended welcome and thanks to the deans and delegateswho participated in the meeting. He pointed out in his speech that since itsestablishment, MBA Education Center of School of Business has been insisting onits educational mission of “Global Vision, English Instruction”, constantlyconsolidating its global feature. Particularly after its MBA Project passedAMBA accreditation in May, 2015, the international reputations of both Schoolof Business and MBA Education Center were considerably enhanced. He hoped thatthose who present at the Business School Accreditation Salon will take thisopportunity and work together to promote the common development of China’sbusiness schools.
Zhang Yanmei, Vice Dean of Lingnan (University) Collegeof Sun Yat-sen University first introduced the development of internationalaccreditation in China. Colleges and universities should have a rational viewon international accreditation and bear in mind that the essence of accreditation is to continuously improve the teaching quality of the MBA project.
Wang Yuanhuai, Director of EMBA Education Center of SunYat-sen Business School expressed that the importance of domestic accreditationcannot be neglected, for it can, to some extent, affect the resource allocationand discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education.
Chen Jianbin, Vice Dean of Business College of Beijing Union University, shared his experience in AACSB accreditation.
Xu Ying, Director of EMBA Education Center of School of Business Administration of South China University of Technology stated that accreditation is a trend and that the development of Colleges and Universitiesat home lags far behind that of their overseas counterparts.
Yuan Denghua, Vice Dean of GDUFS School of Business illustrated the accreditation plans of Guangwai MBA, including AMBA renewal andthe domestic accreditation CAMEA.
Jia Jia, Director of International Accreditation Projectexpressed that accreditation has evolved into a vogue and that it does haveremarkable implications if viewed from the perspective of “boosting developmentthrough evaluation”.
The guests participated in the salon also included deansand delegates of business schools from Jinan University, Shanghai InternationalStudies University, Guangdong University of Finance & Economics, andGuangxi University of Finance and Economics. They all offered their insightfulobservations on China’s business school accreditation and shared their relevantwork experience in this field. After listening to the opinions of other guests,Chief Editor Meng Ge also touched on her own views on the development ofbusiness schools. She expected that the development of business schools cansynergize with national economic development so as to elevate the education toa new height and boost national economic development.
In the end, Dean Zhu Wenzhong concluded that thoughaccreditation can benefit higher institutions in the long run, they cannotpursue accreditation for accreditation’s sake. Accreditation should be set todrive the development of business-related discipline. Finally, he, on behalf ofthe faculty of School of Business, thanked the participated deans and delegatesagain for their guidance and assistance.
