In January 2017, Global Governance  Innovation Program of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies was set up.  After the encouragement of postgraduate students actively applying for the  program and the selection of potential candidates within the School of  Business during the winter vacation, SOB recommended 11 postgraduate students  to participate in the school-level selection. Among 163 candidates, eight  students of SOB got into the interview session. Finally, three students were  admitted to the program. They were Zhang Xia and Lin Wozan from Master Of  Business Administration and Su Yi from Business Management Department.

Since the merger of the School of  Business and Management and the MBA School in 2014, SOB has taken the  opportunity of further development of international accreditation to improve  the quality of education, uphold the mission of “Cultivating  International Business Talents of High Quality” and values of SMILE. SOB is  committed to cultivating international business talents of high quality who enjoys international  business ideas and local business intelligence and features  "cross-border, cross-industry and cross-cultural". The success of  three students being admitted to the program not only testified the initial  results of cultivating international high-end talent, but also inspired the  School to work hard for the vision of being a “top-tier internationalized  business school with distinctive features and excellent quality”.

It is reported that the Global Governance Innovation  Program is a high-level project on international exchanges and cooperation  set up by the China Scholarship Council in Guangdong University of Foreign  Studies. Each year, 10 outstanding postgraduate students will be chosen to  finish a master's degree in famous universities in the United States,  tuition, living expenses and international air tickets will be shouldered by  the China Scholarship Council. In addition, some students can get some  funding to pursue a master's degree through applying for the “Program For International  (Outbound) Academic Exchanges in The Building Of A High-level University".
