On September 4th, Vice President Jiao Fangtai accompanied by Yuan Changqing, Director of Academic Programmes Division, Cai Hong, Director of the International Office and Guo Jia, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Division came to School of Business(SOB) to give guidance for the work in the new semester and inspected the work of last year. Vice Dean Yuan Denghua, Liang Jie, QiuWeinian, Ding Hao and CPC Deputy Party Secretary of SOB LuoHaiyang attended the meeting. The conference was held at the 360 Conference Room of the faculty building. 
Zhu Wenzhong, Dean of the SOB first reported the work of the last semester and the plan for the new semester. He pointed out that the work of SOB had made new progress in the past half a year. Firstly, the Master's course in Tourism Management was approved and together with School of Politics and Public Administration, the school had applied for the Master's course in Applied Psychology. Secondly, SOB had obtained the membership of AACSB. Thirdly, 2 young doctors were introduced to the school. Professor Zhu Yunxia from University of Queensland was introduced as Yunshan visiting professor. Fourthly, assessment and review of the undergraduate teaching was conducted. Fifthly, one teaching result was awarded the Grand Award by the university and submitted to the provincial-level counterpart to compete for the First Prize. Projects by Yuan Denghua and Liu Xiaoqin won the sponsorship by the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Foundation. Teachers of the school published nearly 10 papers on first-class core journals such as SSCI. Research Center for Latin America was recognized by the Ministry of Education as national and regional research center. Sixthly, the party building workshop of SOB was selected as the demonstration project by the university. The Party branch of Business Administration Faculty and the Party branch of students of Human Resources Management Direction from Grade 2014 was named by the university Party branch as the “Three Type” Party branch featuring in study, service and innovation; the student union of SOB was selected by the university as the Red Flag student union and awarded as the Excellent Student Union of provincial level. SOB won the title of Scholarly School given by the School Library; the website of SOB also ranked the First Place among all teaching faculties. Zhu Wenzhong indicated that all the staff must be aware of the difficulties and risks, striving for the realization of a strategic vision of an international business school. 
Vice Dean Yuan Denghua reported on case development and academic research. Vice Dean Liang Jie reported on the international exchanges and cooperation projects such as Erasmus. Vice Dean Qiu Weinian made a report on the improvement of the quality of teaching, the construction of quality teaching base and the undergraduate teaching. Luo Haiyang, CPC Deputy Secretary of SOB made a report about the registration, Sunshine Sports Project and the operation of youth Marxists training project and so on. 
After listening to the reports, Jiao Fangtai recognized the achievements of SOB and made important instructions for the future work. He pointed out that currently, SOB should strive to work in three aspects: Firstly, ensure the safety on campus and in classroom. Any foreign lectures must be submitted for approval first. Classrooms should not be borrowed by people out of the school. Secondly, strengthen the quality of undergraduate teaching and specialty construction, improve the credit system reform, optimize the talent training program and standardize teaching management, especially after the undergraduate teaching assessment and reviewing. Undergraduate teaching is the foundation the school; we should vigorously promote the quality of undergraduate teaching project. Thirdly, promote the construction of SOB with international characteristic, work on the international and domestic accreditation with every effort, which should be regarded as the priority. The School of Business should strive to realize the strategic vision of a high level business school with distinctive internationalization as soon as possible. The instructions pointed out the direction and path for the future development of SOB. The accompanying directors also made constructive suggestions on the construction and development of the school. The school leaders promised they would improve their working methods and skills, and further promote the all-round development of SOB. |
