At 3:00 p.m. on October 22, 2020, SOB held a lecture on "Neural Networks and Deep Learning - Application of Pythia" in F208 of the teaching building. Many students actively attended the lecture, which was given by Professor PAN Wenchao of SOB. First, Professor PAN pointed out that the difference in human brain intelligence causes the disparity in learning ability of each individual, and then explained the status of the terms "weight value" and "threshold value" in artificial neural networks. Then, he explained the concept of "artificial neural network" in detail. Next, Professor PAN introduced the "back propagation network" model, emphasizing the three steps of processing data in the modeling of deep learning: training, testing, and prediction. In the key part of the lecture - the application of Pythia software, he illustrated the concept of GA from the perspective of biology to the students and patiently taught them how to use Pythia software on the spot to ensure the standardization and accuracy of data. After the lecture, the students actively raised their questions to the professor. Professor PAN answered the questions in simple and easy-to-understand words, which was very rewarding for many students.
