On the morning of November 16, the 2020 Guangdong Public Diplomacy Seminar, which was jointly hosted by Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association and Foshan Public Diplomacy Association, and undertaken by SOB of GDUFS, was held in the Academic Exchange Center of GDUFS. JIAO Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS, FU Lang, Executive Vice President of Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association, ZHU Wenzhong, Dean of SOB, WEI Chuanwen, Party Secretary, YUAN Denghua, Vice Dean, and over 100 participants working in foreign affairs from municipal political consultative conference and public diplomacy association at and above the prefecture-level in Guangdong Province attended the opening ceremony.

On behalf of the university, JIAO Fangtai extended the warmest welcome to all the participants, and thanked Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association for its years of support. He introduced the distinctive characteristics of GDUFS, its teaching features and development achievements in recent years.

On behalf of Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association, FU Lang thanked GDUFS for the considerate services in this seminar, and extended heartfelt welcome to the participants. He said that the seminar had been designed to help participants comprehend and develop a further understanding of the diplomatic thinking of General Secretary XI Jinping. In the special year of 2020, one should be alert to potential risks and pursue learning with particular purpose and thinking so that one can put into practice what has been learnt. In addition, he put out three requirements: to identify, to control and to dispose and explained to the participants these three requirements with his own experiences and real cases.

The seminar aimed to help all participants better understand China's foreign policy with Chinese characteristics in the new era through an in-depth study of the diplomatic thinking of XI Jinping, the important speech Xi delivered at the celebration ceremony of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the important instructions Xi put forward during his stay in Guangdong. Eventually the participants have been expected to be more competent in serving the big picture of the country and the new development requirements of the Guangdong province.
