SOB Holds the 3rd Annual Academic Conference of the Service Science and Operations Management Branch of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economical Mathematics

From December25 to December 26, 2021, the 3rd Annual Academic Conference of the Service Science and Operations Management Branch of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economical Mathematics was successfully held. Deputy Secretary of GDUFS TANG Rui, Dean of SOB ZHU Wenzhong, Vice Dean of SOB ZENG chuhong, and young and middle-aged leading teachers and graduate students in related fields attended the conference.

With the theme of “Innovation-driven Intelligent Service Management”, the conference invited nearly 30 well-known scholars to deliver conference reports, themed forum reports and expert reviewers, as well as the conference host.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by ZHU Wenzhong, Dean of SOB, GDUFS. TANG Rui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of GDUFS, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the university.ResearcherHUO Hong, Vice Director of the First Ministry of Management of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, said that the reform of the funds has provided unprecedented opportunities for research in the field of service science, and hoped that experts and scholars would aim at the significant national demand and perform influential and practical research. At last, Prof. HUA Zhongsheng of Zhejiang University, Chairman of the Service Science and Operations Management Branch of Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economical Mathematics, delivered a speech on behalf of the Branch.

The conference’s report session kicked off with the themed report of Prof. HUANG Haijun, Vice President of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Subsequently, Researcher HUO Hong, prof. WANG Hongwei of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Prof. LI Minqiang of Tianjin University made conference reports, which were respectively presided over by Prof. ZENG Chuhong, Vice Dean of the School of Business of GDUFS, Prof. CHEN Xu, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Prof. LUO Xinggang of Hangzhou Dianzi University, and Prof. BIAN Yiwen of the Sydney Business School of Shanghai University.

After the conference reports, the Member Congress and the Governing Council meeting were held. During the Member Congress, Prof. HUA Zhongsheng, Chairman of the Branch, presented the work report of the First Governing Council of the Branch, which was deliberated by all the member representatives. Subsequently, the Members of the Second Governing Council of the Branch were elected by the online voting of all the representatives at the conference. During the Governing Council meeting, the new Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary-General, and Executive Directors were elected online by the participating Members of the Council.

On the morning of December 26th, 11 guest speakers attended three themed report forums on smart operation management, the organization and optimization of service resources, and new technology-driven management decision-making. Prof. LIANG Zhe of the School of Economics and Management of Tongji University, Prof. MA Tieju of the School of Business of East China University of Science and Technology, and Prof. ZHANG Xiaoning of the School of Economics and Management of Tongji University made themed reports, which were respectively chaired by Prof. HAN Xiaohua of the School of Business, GDUFS, Prof. GUAN Xu of the School of Management of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Prof. ZHU Lei of the School of Economics and Management of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

The conference specially invited many well-known domestic professors to comment on the papers for exchange at the conference. The conference received more than 40 submissions. After an anonymous review by 4 communications specialists, a total of 20 papers were selected for online exchange. In this session, the evaluation experts gave professional guidance on the selection of research topics, research contents and methods, and paper writing, and put forward specific suggestions for revision.

The conference has showcased China’s new achievements and progress in the field of service management in recent years, discussed the opportunities, challenges and direction of development that service management faces in the current context, and provided a high-end academic platform for experts, scholars, and industry insiders in the field of service science and service management. It has played an important role in improving the academic level of our university in the fields of business administration, management science and engineering, promoting the development of management-related disciplines and enhancing the influence of GDUFS and its SOB.
