On the afternoon of November 11, 2023, as a Sub-forum under the International Think Tank Forum of the 21st Century Marine Silk Road (2023), the “Belt and Road” and Portuguese-Speaking Countries Research & Lusophone Bay Area (2023) Seminar was held in Room 103, Building 9, Baiyun Mountain Campus of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The forum was jointly hosted by SoB and Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, and organized by the Institute for Portuguese-Speaking Countries. Over 60 guest scholars from institutions including the University of Macao, Macao Polytechnic University, Macao University of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing Normal University, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies attended.

DING Hao, Associate Dean of SoB, GDUFS, summarized the symposium with the phrases “building on the past and forging ahead into the future” and “upholding integrity and promoting innovation.” He emphasized that China and Portuguese-speaking countries share a solid historical foundation of political mutual trust, cultural exchange, and economic complementarity. After two decades of development, the Forum for China-Portuguese Speaking Countries has made Macao an exceptional platform for advancing cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking nations. China and Portuguese-speaking countries will undoubtedly compose a new chapter of shared development through high-quality cooperation in the new era. By building and strengthening the community of shared future between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, they will contribute more positive strength to realizing the grand vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
